Tony Stewart, CEO of Quails91裸聊视频 Gate Estate Winery, has been named 2016 Business Leader by the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce. The award celebrates and recognizes his outstanding contribution to the business community. Stewart has been CEO of the winery since 2005 where he has focused his efforts on the development of Quails91裸聊视频 Gate as one of Canada91裸聊视频檚 top wine brands and a leader in the Okanagan Culinary scene. Prestige Hotels & Resorts has purchased the Vernon Atrium Hotel and Conference Centre, formerly known as the Best Western Vernon Lodge, including the hotel91裸聊视频檚 food and beverage operations. The Vernon Atrium Hotel was the sister property of both the Ramada Hotel & Conference Centre in Kelowna and the Penticton Lakeside Hotel in Penticton. Prestige Hotels and Resorts have 12 locations in B.C. and an existing property in Vernon.
The Kelowna Museums Society was awarded a grant though Young Canada Works to support an eight month conservation internship. Jesslyn Jarvis was the successful candidate. She graduated from Wilfrid Laurier91裸聊视频檚 archaeology program and Fleming College91裸聊视频檚 cultural heritage conservation and management program. Since joining the society, she has preserved and treated various objects of historical significance, including fossils, sports equipment, wine bottles and hunting gear. Speaking of The Kelowna Museums, they have a new addition to their collection. Museum staff were invited to salvage objects from Kelowna91裸聊视频檚 Paramount Theatre prior to its demolition. A film splicer was recovered from one of the projection rooms. Landmark Cinemas also donated eight theatre seats, which will be installed in the museum91裸聊视频檚 new permanent galleries.
Okanagan College culinary students are making a significant splash in the world of Florida tomatoes. Would-be chefs at OC captured first, second and third place honours in the 27th annual edition of the contest. Annie Low earned first place with her recipe for a tomato chili jam with fresh tomatoes, roasted peppers and fresh and dried chilies. Second place went to Morris Hsu, who developed a recipe for tomato iced tea with slow roasted tomatoes before they were strained and then infused with mint, fennel leaves and ginger. Third place belonged to Elizabeth Devereaux, who stacked a panko-crusted eggplant slice with tomato jam, mozzarella, a tomato slice, tomato mayonnaise and a fresh basil leaf. The students were encouraged to enter the contest by their instructor chef Mike Barillaro.
