What are the alternatives to suspensions and detentions?
School discipline is broken argues Ph.D. Ross Greene.
Greene, the best-selling author of Lost at School, is on a mission to fix school discipline. From 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 1 and 2, Greene is giving two presentations at the Coast Capri Hotel in Kelowna.
He will outline better ways of helping kids with challenging behaviours. Brought to you by 4children.ca, this lecture style workshop is for parents and caregivers and all who live or work with children.
91裸聊视频淚f you91裸聊视频檙e parenting a child with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges, you know that the journey can be frustrating, draining, and isolating. It doesn91裸聊视频檛 help that lots of folks are blaming you for your child91裸聊视频檚 behavior. But we91裸聊视频檙e not going to blame you91裸聊视频 we91裸聊视频檙e going to help you,91裸聊视频 said Greene.
The founding director of the non-profit , and associate professor in the Department of Psychology at Virginia Tech, Greene is the originator of the model of care now called Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS).
He consults with families, schools, in-patient and residential facilities, systems of juvenile detention, and lectures widely throughout the world.
CPS trains children to talk about frustrating situations and positions them to be able to advocate for themselves. Some children have lagging skills and are unable to process what is being asked of them. The pressures to perform become overwhelming and almost impossible, which more often than not leads to unacceptable behaviours.
When a collaborative approach (meeting of the minds) is used the results have successful outcomes for everyone. It91裸聊视频檚 hard work, and it takes time - but with adult help it is so worth seeing a child come from a place of stress, anger, and hopelessness transform.
