Jordan Dubyna found his love of country through a scratchy radio and his family91Ƶs church.

He could relate to the songs, he said, as they revolved around working hard and living in the bush.

91ƵI remember driving around on the property doing chores. It ignited my love for country music because I live the life. Everything I sing about is stuff I do daily.91Ƶ

From Armstrong, the guitarist/vocalist is competing Aug. 2 to open for Brent Kissel and The Band Perry as part of the newly-formed Lost n Found at this year91Ƶs Road to Rockin91Ƶ River Music Fest.

The members of the country band91Ƶnow based in Kelowna91Ƶmet on opposite sides of the same competition last year in Merritt.

Together they formed Lost n Found, which consists of Dubyna, guitarist/vocalist Mitch Glanz, mandolin player Zach Glanz, bassist Andrew Glanz and drummer AJ Carlson. The band will face off against 11 other contestants at the contest in Merritt.

91ƵOne day we said 91Ƶwhy aren91Ƶt we working together?91Ƶ We have the same music, the same style, we like the same songs and we enjoy hanging together,91Ƶ said Dubyna.

Their first show together was at the Lumby Barn dance in April and they nailed their setlist, he said.

The Glanz brothers come from a large Kelowna family in which Dubyna can relate to with his own family. They also learned music from singing in the choir and being involved with the church in their childhood.

91ƵI91Ƶm the high strung one,91Ƶ said Dubyna. 91ƵThe rest of the guys are even steel.91Ƶ

Their childhood91Ƶs also influence their lyrics, he added. Dubyna writes about the struggle of being a Christian kid as well as about heartbreak and lost love.

He loves sitting down and creating music with the band.

91ƵYou know when you91Ƶre with good musicians when you can go into a room and sit down with a song and everyone by ear, sits down and plays it and adds their little spice to it,91Ƶ he said.

The band will also play a Thursday at the Ok Corral in order to help wildfire evacuees.
