Local photographers are invited to get snapping to possibly have their work displayed in the new Sek'emaws (Sicamous) Health Centre.
The District of Sicamous has issued an expression of interest calling for photographers to submit images that "reflect the community's unique identity, including its connection to nature, local traditions and stories..." the post reads. The photographs chosen, up to 40 of them, will be displayed in the new health centre for people to "be a part of this legacy project and leave your mark on a space that will inspire health, healing and community for years to come."
Submissions will be evaluated on theme alignment, creativity and originality, technical quality, emotional/cultural resonance and connection to Sicamous. To be eligible to participate, photographers have to live or own property in Sicamous, Area E of the Columbia Shuswap Regional District or demonstrate a connection to the community.
Interested photographers can find the application form online at , and must be included with images that are sent in JPEG format in the largest file size, or on USB if mailed or hand delivered. The district will cover all costs related to printing, framing and installation.
The deadline for submissions is Friday, Jan. 31, followed by evaluation and section from Feb. 3 to 28 with photographers being notified on March 3.
