Victoria metal band Spiritbox has clinched the Best International Live Artist award at the 2024 Heavy Music Awards, hot on the heels of an earlier Grammy Awards nomination for Best Metal Performance.
The independent Heavy Music Awards, held at O2 Forum Kentish Town in London, marks another milestone for Spiritbox, further solidifying their status as one of the world's leading metal bands.
The band won out against longstanding giants Slipknot and Limp Bizkit. Others nominated in the category were Landmvrks, Ice Nine Kills, Electric Callboy and Bad Omens.
Fronted by Courtney LaPlante, Spiritbox has seen a quick rise to fame with their emotionally charged sound that blends elements of progressive metal, djent and metalcore.
The band amassed 66 million streams before they dropped their debut album. Then, their first LP, Eternal Blue, released in late 2023, received critical acclaim and hit #1 on the U.S. and Canadian Rock and Hard Rock charts, with hits like Circle With Me and Holy Roller.
In 2022 the band received two Juno nominations and also won Best International Breakthrough Band at the 2021 Heavy Music Awards.
Spiritbox was formed in 2017 by husband and wife Courtney LaPlante (vocals) and Michael Stringer (guitar). The lineup was solidified in 2023 with Zev Rose (drums) and Josh Gilbert (bass).
