An organization representing hundreds of stakeholders in the Central Okanagan construction industry wants Kelowna council to reconsider changes to its good neighbour bylaw.

Construction noise is allowed between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. seven days a week, including statutory holidays.

City staff have recommended that it be changed to 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends and no construction noise on stats.

A June 6 letter from the Canadian Home Builders91裸聊视频� Association Central Okanagan (CHBA-CO) to the city pointed out that construction projects have tight deadlines, and delays could impact completion dates and increase costs. 

91裸聊视频淲e share the stance of the Urban Development Institute (UDI), that a delayed start on weekends and an outright ban on statutory holidays will have an adverse effect on new construction projects in terms of larger costs and longer timelines,91裸聊视频� the letter stated.

It also questioned enforcement challenges and monitoring renovation projects typically done by homeowners on weekends.

The CHBA-CO and UDI proposed restricting construction from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and stat holidays, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.

Council will deal with the staff recommended amendments at a future meeting.
