National Indigenous People's Day celebrations in Kelowna

The Turtle Island Festival and Metis Rendezvous take place during Indigenous People's Day

Ki-Low-Na Friendship Society is hosting its annual Turtle Island Festival on National Indigenous Peoples Day.

It takes place on Friday, June 21 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Leon Avenue. 

The event features a mini powwow, children91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s activities, and a traditional feast. 

The 400 block of Leon Ave. between Pandosy and Ellis streets will be closed to vehicle traffic from 6:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. 

The detour route will have signage, and flaggers will direct traffic as needed. 
 
The Métis Community Services (MCSBC) of BC will also hold its Métis Rendezvous on Friday at City Park from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. 

It includes hoop dancing, face painting, drumming circle, food and more.
