A West Kelowna councillor feels the province needs to provide more RCMP officers to the community.

In 2024 Q3 statistics presented to council Tuesday (Oct. 22), Coun. Jason Friesen noted that 60 per cent of the force is funded by the city while 40 per cent is funded by the province. 

91裸聊视频淎nd the calls are almost exactly opposite,91裸聊视频� Friesen added. 91裸聊视频淭he provincial calls are 59 per cent and West Kelowna is 41. The ratio of provincial police officers versus municipal is definitely backwards and this has been a trend now for three quarters.91裸聊视频� 

He said West Kelowna needs more support from the province.

RCMP dealt with 2, 418 calls from July to September including 173 violent offences, 89 property offences and 166 traffic violations.

Coun. Rick de Jong was pleased to see more drivers were being nabbed for speeding and that curfew check numbers were up significantly (130 in Q3 compared to 20 in Q2).

There were 14 residential break-ins in Q3 compared to four in the previous quarter. Commercial break-ins went from 12 to 14 and theft from vehicles dropped from 61 to 46 quarter over quarter.

Staff Sgt. Doland said officers will be working to reduce the number of break-and-enters in the community.
