Create memories at Lake Country's new Folktale Cider. 

Christine and Blain Weber have been working on the project for over a year and are excited to welcome families to the orchard. 

The couple has taken over the site of the Oyama Red Barn on Irvine Road. The cidery opened a licensed picnic area and orchard over Canada Day weekend. 

The barn is currently undergoing renovations to open as the tasting room. 

"We're building a beautiful tasting bar with 18 taps," Christine said. "It's very whimsical in there. We really love our Folktale brand."

Blain added that the taps are going to be made from a tree that was struck by lightning. 

"We hollowed it out and ran our draft lines through it, so it will actually be like you're pouring cider right from the tree."

In keeping on brand, each can depicts a different folktale. Christine added that they are using the Indigenous names of each folktale to keep true to the roots of the area. 

"It's all about community and bringing people together. We love how stories are unique to each region just like flavours and ingredients." 

The picnic area and orchard are open Wednesday through Sunday. Cider is available in a tasting flight or by the glass. Kids can enjoy shaved ice or some locally made apple juice. 

The Weber's hope to open the tasting room by the fall.
