Animal Justice and the Vancouver Humane Society have concerns about the bull riding event scheduled for Prospera Place on July 18.
The groups have alerted RCMP and the BC SPCA about potential violations of B.C.91裸聊视频檚 Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and Canada91裸聊视频檚 Criminal Code during the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) event.
91裸聊视频淚f the event proceeds as planned on Thursday, bulls will be compelled to buck through the use of hard metal spurs and flank straps specifically designed to cause discomfort, combined with the unnatural sensation of a rider gripping tightly to their back in a loud, chaotic environment in front of thousands of spectators,91裸聊视频 reads a joint media release.
The Act states that a person responsible for an animal must care for it and protect the animal from circumstances likely to cause distress.
Dr. Malgosia Mosielski, a veterinarian who worked in the animal welfare branch of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, recently reviewed a video recorded by Animal Justice at a PBR event in Ontario.
Quoted in the media release, Dr. Mosielski said what she witnessed was 91裸聊视频渢roubling91裸聊视频 and that the bulls were 91裸聊视频渟ubjected to further stressors in order to amplify their fear response.91裸聊视频
91裸聊视频淓xamples include increasing noise levels, using a flank strap to irritate or cause the bull pain, and the use of spurs,91裸聊视频 she said.
Animal Justice also advised authorities that the event in Kelowna would likely violate the criminal code.
91裸聊视频淚f the PBR proceeds with these events, we want organizers to be held accountable for any breaches of the act,91裸聊视频 explained Alexandra Pester, staff lawyer at Animal Justice.
