Kelowna high schoolers had the chance to check out Okanagan College to inspire them for the future.
More than 300 students from School District 23 toured the Kelowna campus and had the chance to sit in on one of the morning classes being offered on May 2.
Associate director of recruitment and enrollment Mehgan Cabrera said, 91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵœCollege is often daunting91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ¦We want them to know that it91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s fun and it91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s an opportunity for them to get to the place they want to go.91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ
Cabrera added that the Experience OC day lets students see just what opportunities are out there.
After checking out a college class, the high school students were treated to a hot dog lunch in the courtyard.
91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵœI always love the quote by Nelson Mandela, 91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ˜Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™ I think sometimes we think 91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ˜Oh, I91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™ll figure it out. I91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™ll just take longer,91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™ but, you91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™re going to be 50 anyways so why not start now?91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ
The Salmon Arm campus will host Experience OC on May 3, the Vernon campus on May 8, and the Penticton campus on May 9.
