Tristan Seeger's homicide death is still under investigation.

Tristan Seeger would be 16 today, Aug. 6.

The Kelowna teenager died in hospital the day after being struck by a vehicle near Rutland's Ben Lee Park on Oct. 21, 2023.

Seeger's dad Jason told Black Press that his son would want him to move forward. "I know he wants us to be happy, so that's what I'm going to do."

Friends and family gathered near the memorial bench for Seeger by the skate park at Ben Lee Park to remember and celebrate the teen.

The skate park was one of Seeger's favourite hangout spots in Kelowna. Although the area is currently blocked off for maintenance, the gathering took place at 3:30 p.m. as close to the skate park as possible.

"He loved boarding, skate boarding, he loved basketball, he loved reading and everything he did he did hard, he gave it is all," Jason said of his son.

Seeger's death on Oct. 22, 2023 was ruled a homicide. Kelowna RCMP has confirmed that recommended charges are under review by Crown Counsel.
