The Kelowna Legion has found a new permanent home.
On Oct. 24 at the first Poppy ceremony, Legion 26 confirmed their new location is at 1317 Ethel Street and they get possession on Nov. 1.
The former Legion building was evacuated in the fall of 2023 due to instability and damage caused by construction on the new UBCO building, which is being built at the intersection of St. Paul Street and Doyle Avenue.
"Our building was unfortunately destroyed with the construction of the UBCO building," said Kelowna Legion veteran liaison Philip Donison. "They have been working very well with us, and they've been phenomenal in helping us along our endeavours but we do have a new building in the works."
In the meantime, the Legion's temporary home has been at the Kelowna Canadian-Italian Club.
Their new location used to be Beyond Learning Daycare, which recently held its closing sale. The daycare's final day is on Oct. 25.
As of July 1, 2023, the building at 1317 Ethel Street was determined to cost $1,409,000, per BC Assessment.
