A long-time Kelowna media personality is stepping into politics.
Toby Tannas has launched a website campaigning herself for nomination for the Conservative Party of Canada's Vernon-Lake Country-Monashee riding.
Originally from Alberta, Tannas has been working in media around the Okanagan for more than 30 years, including time with Global Okanagan. Recently, she has been co-host of Beach Mornings with with Ara and Toby.
She isn't the first person to throw her hat into the ring as current Vernon councillor Teresa Durning, former Vernon councillor Scott Anderson, and local business owner Rachel Enns are also all seeking the party's nomination.
The upcoming Federal election has take place on or before October 20, 2025. It will be the first election with redrawn ridings which includes Vernon-Lake Country-Monashee.
