Royal Canadian Legion 26 in Kelowna has donated $3,000 to the Central Okanagan Community Foodbank.
The money will be split evenly between the Kelowna and West Kelowna locations.
91ƵWe wanted to designate them91Ƶwe wanted it (the donation) to be in our areas,91Ƶ said Linda Mitchell, Legion acting president.
She said it91Ƶs important for the Legion to give back to the community.
91ƵWe try and support anyone that needs help and we have a certain amount of money that we can give each year.91Ƶ
The Legion is also in need of some help.
91ƵWe still need some volunteers to go out and do the poppy campaign,91Ƶ Mitchell added. 91ƵThere are certain spots where we still need volunteers.91Ƶ
Legion branches across the country take part in the poppy campaign and donations are held in trust at the branch level to support veterans and their families within their respective communities.
Poppies are worn every year from the last Friday in Oct. to Nov 11 by millions of Canadians.
Anyone interested in volunteering during the poppy campaign in Kelowna can call 250-762-2961.
