Peachland is moving forward with plans for new pickleball courts, though construction may still take time.

At its Nov. 26 meeting, council directed staff to issue a request for proposals (RFP) to build up to four courts for no more than $200,000. This decision follows a report by Urban Systems that estimated the cost of design and construction at $315,000, with an additional 30 per cent contingency.

Creron noted that while more courts could be added, the Peachland Pickleball Society would need to cover any costs exceeding the district91裸聊视频檚 contribution. The district's contribution will come from the Communities Growth Fund. Council also requested a fundraising plan from the Peachland Pickleball Society to support the project.

Lambly Park, located across from Peachland Village Mall, is the proposed site for the courts. However, Councillor Doug Collins suggested considering Cousins Park on Beach Avenue as an alternative.

91裸聊视频淭he noise issue falls away,91裸聊视频 said Collins. 91裸聊视频淭here91裸聊视频檚 lots of parking, there91裸聊视频檚 washrooms nearby. Combined with the four (courts) in the community centre you91裸聊视频檝e now got eight, they can have tournaments.91裸聊视频

Collins added that he would still support Lambly Park if it proves to be the best option. However,  Councillor Terry Condon warned council against the idea.

A community survey showed that 71 per cent of respondents supported building the courts at Lambly Park, while 29 per cent were opposed, citing concerns about parking, noise, and the loss of green space. Staff also noted that the 2024 Peachland Citizens Survey found pickleball was rated the second lowest important service by respondents, and was ranked 26 out of 43 in the services satisfaction category.

Councillor Randy Brophey recused himself from disussion and the vote due to a conflict of interest.
