Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the North and Central Okanagan and Shuswap.
According to the national forecaster, conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
The severe thunderstorm watch was issued after atmospheric conditions became favourable to produce large hail, damaging winds, and torrential rainfall.
Environment Canada warns there is a heightened risk of debris flows over areas impacted by burn scars.
Those looking to head out on the water Tuesday are also warned that it could be unsafe on the lake due to violent and sudden gusts of wind over bodies of water.
