A snowfall warning is in effect for the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt.
Environment Canada is forecasting 15 to 25 cm of snow to fall from the afternoon of Saturday, Dec.7, until the morning of Sunday Dec. 8.
A strong Pacific low-pressure system will blow in from the coast on the evening of Dec.6.
Rain is anticipated to drench the region from Friday evening until Saturday morning, when temperatures will drop and the precipitation will fall as snow.
Drivers should expect periods of moderate flurries through the night of Dec. 7.
The snowfall is expected to ease on Sunday afternoon.
Motorists are warned to adjust driving with changing road conditions and check for updates.
A winter storm warning is also in effect for the from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass.
Environment Canada warned hazardous winter road conditions were expected along this section of highway beginning Friday evening, Dec. 6, and continuing until Saturday.
