UPDATE: Spot fire between Peachland and Summerland under control

The fire is still listed as just 0.0 hectares and is located off Callan Road

A spot fire has been reported north of Summerland on July 22.

Update 12:30 p.m.:

The spot fire north of the Summerland is now classified as Under Control by the BC Wildfire Service.

An update at 12:23 p.m. changed the fire's status and updated the size to 0.009 hectares. 

The cause of the fire was also confirmed to have been from a lightning strike. 

Original Story:

A spot fire has been reported north of Summerland near where crews have been working on the Highway 97 landslide. 

The fire is listed at 0.0 hectares currently, and the cause is under investigation. 

According to the BC Wildfire Service map, the fire is on the east side of Highway 97 off of Callan Road. 

A storm cell that passed through the Okanagan has caused a number of lightning strikes, with at least one fire being started near Oliver as a result. 

Traffic so far has not been impacted by the fire, according to DriveBC.
