After getting blown out in the first of two pre-season games of the 2024-25 campaign, the Kelowna Rockets edged the Kamloops Blazers in game two.
The home-at-home match up started in Kamloops on Sept. 6 where the Rockets fell 9-3. Fifteen-year-olds Owen Hayden, Nathan Cole and William Matte saw their first game action with the Rockets. Levi Benson, Kalder Varga, Kanjyu Gojsic and Owen Folstrom also played for Kelowna.
On Saturday (Sept. 7) Kelowna hosted the Blazers at Prospera Place. The Rockets went with a similar lineup to Friday91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s game with Luke Schelter and Marek Rocak in for Nathan Cole and Lachlan Staniforth.
Kelowna scored first on a goal Michael Cicek at 6:07 of the first period. The Rockets made it 2-0 shortly after on a marker by 16-year-old Owen Folstrom. Kamloops got on the board late in the period making it 2-1. Luke Schelter put the Rockets up 3-1 at 5:54 of the second period. The Blazers cut the lead back to one less than three minutes later.
Kamloops pulled their goaltender late in the third for the extra attacker and it paid off as they tied the game with 16 seconds left. Rockets rookie Kanjyu Gojsic potted the winner 1:59 into overtime for the 4-3 win.
Kelowna91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s pre-season continues on Saturday, Sept. 14 when they welcome the Vancouver Giants to Prospera Place.
