A GoFundMe campaign in memory of a young baseball player has raised more than $74,000 for improvements to a ball field in Summerland.
The Field 96 Hendriks Jon Taylor Legacy Project was launched by Melissa Taylor of Summerland, following the death of her son, Hendriks Jon Taylor, who died in summer at the age of 16.
He had been living with a brain tumour before his death.

Taylor loved playing baseball at Living Memorial Park in Summerland, along with his brother and their father as coach.
The park was donated to the community following the Second World War and is a tribute to those who fought in wars. The project was started in 1947 and the ball fields were completed in 1948.
Now more than 75 years later, the fields are in need of an overhaul, Melissa Taylor says.
The Field 96 Hendriks Jon Taylor Legacy Project is named after his baseball jersey number, with the initiative raising money for renovations and enhancements at Field 2 at the park.

The fundraising initiative has a goal of $750,000. Since the initiative was launched the project has raised more than $74,000.
