A senior officer with Greater Victoria91Ƶs Central Saanich Police Service quit the department after getting caught being 91Ƶdemeaning91Ƶ to a junior officer.

That91Ƶs according to the Office of Police Complaint Commissioner91Ƶs annual report on substantiated allegations against officers.

The OPCC initiated an investigation after receiving information that a member had made inappropriate comments and gestures of a sexual nature toward a junior colleague.

At the time of the incident, the member was in a supervisory position, the report said.

91ƵThe Discipline Authority determined that the member91Ƶs conduct was inappropriate, demeaning, and 91Ƶhad no relevant, or meaningful purpose, other than to be an insult, and vulgar.91Ƶ In arriving at the decision on discipline, the Discipline Authority further noted the member91Ƶs lack of acknowledgement of the incident and their position of authority and responsibility, as a supervisor, at the time of the incident,91Ƶ the report said.

The member did not request a review of the disciplinary decision. The OPCC reviewed these findings and determined that further review was not required and that the discipline imposed was appropriate in the circumstances.

The office in question was disciplined with a reduction in rank and pay, but retired from the Central Saanich Police Service (CSPS) prior to the conclusion of this matter.

91ƵEven though the member retired prior to the conclusion of this matter, their Service Record of Discipline will reflect the discipline imposed,91Ƶ the report said.
