Crews are attending to a fire off Green Mountain Road Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024.

A fire has sparked off Green Mountain Road on Penticton Indian Band land Saturday afternoon.

The fire broke out shortly before 4 p.m. Nov. 30. Penticton Indian Band Fire Department and Penticton Fire Services are on scene, along with RCMP.

A Black Press Media reporter on scene reported flames visible from the road, which gave way to thick white smoke once crews began dousing the blaze.

The fire is in a woodland area and does not appear to be threatening any structures, though the fire appears to be near the backside of a number of sprawling properties.

As of 4:25 p.m. the smoke has mostly died down as crews continue to work on the fire.
