An assault on an elementary school student prompted a hold and secure at three Vernon schools Friday morning.
Vernon North Okanagan RCMP were called to the incident at Mission Hill Elementary at approximately 10 a.m.
"Two youth came onto the property and assaulted a student who attends the school," said Chris Terleski, media relations officer. "During the altercation, one of the suspects allegedly discharged bear or pepper spray at the victim."
The suspects fled on foot prior to police being called, and the incident prompted the Vernon School District to put Mission Hill on hold and secure, as well as Harwood Elementary and W.L. Seaton Secondary.
Shortly after noon, officers located and arrested the two youth suspects.
