A man is facing several new charges after reportedly fleeing from Salmon Arm RCMP on Nov. 9, 2024.

Flight from police was among a several new charges facing a man recently arrested by Salmon Arm RCMP.

William Travis Young, 38, was also charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and obstruction. The charges stem from the events of Nov. 9, when police saw a man known to have active warrants for arrest driving in an orange Kia Seltos.

Police attempted to arrest the man, but he fled on foot, said Const. Andrew Hodges in a media release.

"Soon after the man was again observed driving the same vehicle, and fled from police at a high rate of speed," continued Hodges.

Police then went to a nearby residence the man was known to frequent. There they found the Kia, and a witness who confirmed the man had run into the house.

After over an hour and a half of attempting to get the man to exit the residence, police obtained a warrant permitting entry to make an arrest.

Young was later remanded and held in police custody.
