The Keremeos Volunteer Fire Department responded to a second vehicle fire in a week after a car ignited on Highway 3. 

The department was called just before 2 p.m. on July 24, to the scene 10 kilometres south of Keremeos. 

The vehicle had fully caught fire by the time crews repsonded, but only spread to cover about three by five metres and a few fence posts before it was extinguished. 

"Totally different story if there was wind," said fire chief Jordy Bosscha. 

The department sent out one engine, one water tender and bush truck to the scene along with nine firefighters. 

Crews were on scene for about an hour-and-a-half before the fire was fully extinguished. 

Bosscha noted that they had some difficulty getting to the car, as other vehicles were refusing to pull over despite the lights, sirens and air horns. 

AIM Roads and the RCMP also responded to the scene. 

No one was injured in the fire.
