DriveBC says update coming at noon; drivers advised to seek alternate routes

This section of Highway 7 (Lougheed Highway) was shut down due to a rockslide on Nov. 14, 2024.

A rockslide stopped traffic on the Lougheed Highway (Highway 7) near Hope Thursday evening, west of the Haig Scale.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 14. Rocks were on the road between 7 Day Adventist Youth Camp Road and Ross Road just west of Hope.

Both lanes of the highway were shut down. An update on the highway is due at noon, Nov. 15.

Drivers in the area should expect delays due to congestion as motorists seek alternate routes.

Fraser-Cascade School District 78 sent out emails to the students whose bus routes were affected by the slide.

More to come.
