UPDATE Nov. 8:
Some further details are being released into a couple of separate police incidents in Vernon yesterday.
The Southeast District Emergency Response Team responded to a business in the 3900-block of 32nd Street around 2 p.m. Nov. 7 to assist Kelowna RCMP with an arrest in relation to an ongoing investigation.
"Traffic on 32nd Street was diverted for approximately one hour and reopened once police had safely taken the individual into custody," said Const. Chris Terleski, Vernon North Okanagan media relations officer.
Further up Highway 97 on hospital hill, police responded to an assault on 23rd Avenue early Thursday around 3:20 a.m.
Officers found a victim in a parking lot in the area, who was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
"The ensuing investigation led police to a residence in the area," said Terleski. "Officers have secured the home in the 2200-block of 32nd Street and will have a continued presence at the location while they actively investigate the incident."
ORIGINAL Nov. 7:
With full gear and guns out, more than a dozen unmarked police vehicles were stationed at a Vernon hotel this afternoon.
Meanwhile Vernon North Okanagan RCMP have been stationed at a home on hospital hill all day.
Two officers and their vehicles are blocking access to a home on the corner of 23rd Avenue and 32nd Street (Highway 97).
Down the highway, unmarked trucks were parked at the Vernon Lodge around 3 p.m. before departing.
The Morning Star observed seven of the unmarked vehicles with members in full gear and guns out.
There is no word yet from RCMP on either of the situations or if they are related.
