Thanks to multiple public tips, a man was quickly arrested after he fled the scene of motorcycle crash in Oliver on July 24.

RCMP were called at 11:15 a.m. to a reported single vehicle crash on Highway 97 just south of Road Seven, and on arrival found the bike's passenger present and injured. 

The driver had taken off on foot, according to Oliver detachment head Sgt. Jason Bayda, but his unusual appearance attracted plenty of attention. 

"We had lots of people from the public calling us about him because he was running with no shirt, pants around his ankles, etc., something that certainly looks suspicious to people," said Bayda. 

Witnesses also described the motorcycle as being driven erratically prior to losing control fully and crashing. 

With the assistance of officers from the Keremeos and Osoyoos detachments and BC Highway Patrol, the man was found and arrested. 

The exact state of the female passenger's injuries weren't available, but she was transported to the hospital for treatment by BC Emergency Health Services. 

The driver was released following his arrest to seek medical treatment with an order to appear in court to face multiple charges. 

Bayda stated the man is well known to police, and has been charged with possession of stolen property and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
