A man is now facing charges in connection to the theft of several cell phones from a dressing room at a Salmon Arm arena.
Nigel Zettergreen, 45, has been charged with six counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
The charges, approved by BC Prosecution Service on Feb. 20, 2025, are related to an October 20, 2024, incident where police responded to a report of seven cellphones having been stolen from a hockey dressing room at Rogers Rink.
The owner of one of the stolen phones was able to track a missing phone to the nearby swimming pool. Responding officers located an individual "well known to police" in the men91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s changing room. Police said the man was found in possession of several cell phones in a backpack that did not belong to him. The man was arrested and later released with a future court date, and the phones were returned to their rightful owners.
"This file speaks to our officer91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s engagement with the community, being familiar with local offenders, and their diligence in holding offenders accountable where there is evidence that allows charges to be recommended to BC Prosecution," said Salmon Arm RCMP media liaison officer Const. Andrew Hodges.
