A dog belonging to an Alberta man involved in a serious crash on the Trans-Canada Highway this week has been found dead, police have confirmed in a press release.
On Wednesday, an Alberta man was seriously injured after a crash on the highway near Revelstoke. His dog, a seven-month-old black mastiff named Deirdre was missing after it91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s believed the kennel door opened during the crash.
A local resident out searching for Deirdre found her about 1 km west from where the accident occurred Saturday morning.
The man remains in hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Mounties said.
RCMP say the crash happened when the driver of a Dodge Caravan lost control, causing him to hit the ditch and roll over about five kilometres east of Revelstoke on May 10 at around 1:25 p.m.
The RCMP, highway rescue, and BC Ambulance responded to the scene. The driver, 26, was extracted from the vehicle and airlifted to hospital in Kamloops, where he is in serious condition.
The crash closed the highway for about 20 minutes.

RCMP are now asking people to be on the lookout for Dierdre, a seven month old black mastiff who was in the car at the time of the crash. It is believed the kennel door opened during the crash and she ran off.
