Conservation officer says something must have disturbed the bear

A bear seen strolling around Coldstream is expected to cozy back up into hibernation.

91ƵIt91Ƶs kind of odd that it91Ƶs out of its den, but not uncommon,91Ƶ Vernon Conservation Officer Mike Richardson said.

91ƵIt91Ƶs probably been disturbed and it91Ƶs out on a little walkabout.91Ƶ

When bears do surface in the winter, Richardson said they91Ƶre pretty groggy and will find their way back to their hideout.

91ƵUsually they91Ƶll go back in their dens especially when its cold like this.91Ƶ

In fact, most wildlife have been sparse with the recent cold snap.

91ƵThey just kind of cuddle up,91Ƶ Richardson said.

A couple coyotes were spotted near Harwood Elementary Tuesday afternoon.
