Peachland will celebrate Canada Day with festivities starting early in the morning and lasting into the evening.
Highlights include the return of the Beach Run, a pancake breakfast and parade, music in the park and fireworks.
The Beach Run starts at 7:30 a.m. on July first, and the deadline to register is June 27 at 4 pm.
The 50+ Activity Centre (5672 Beach Avenue) host the pancake breakfast starting at 8 a.m. The cost is $7 for adults, $5 for kids six to 12, and kids five and under eat free.
Other events include:
- 1-1:45 p.m. - Magician Leif David in Heritage Park;
- 1-8 p.m. - Bouncy Castle Waterslide, Sparkly Tattoos (closed 4-5 p.m.), Canadiana Kids T-Shirt Project (2-3:30 p.m), games and activities;
- 2:30-4 p.m. - Chill Out at Swim Bay;
- 4-9 p.m. - Concessions with tasty foods and treats for purchase at Heritage Park;
- 4:30 pm - Canada Day Parade starting at 13th Street and finishing at Heritage Park;
- 6 p.m. - Official ceremony and cake cutting with the mayor and council;
- 6:30 - 10:30 p.m. - Concerts in Heritage Park with the Elderly Brothers and Adam Fitzpatrick, Elvis Tribute
- 10:30 p.m. - Fireworks.
Peachland has requested an exemption from the BC Wildfire Service to the current fireworks ban. If approved, fireworks will be set off from a barge on Okanagan Lake in front of Cenotaph Park on Second Street.
Fireworks are weather dependent and subject to cancellation due to increased fire danger risk.
