The Town of Princeton has declared a state of emergency its northern borders.
It is a proactive move only, according to Lyle Thomas, information officer for the municipality.
91ƵThere is no immediate danger to the Town of Princeton. There have been no alerts or evacuation orders [in town].91Ƶ
The emergency declaration 91Ƶ made early Monday afternoon - gives the town access to provincial funds and authorities that are otherwise not available and also sets in motions a series of local preparations, said Thomas.
91ƵWe want to make sure we are prepared. We want to make sure we are ready and we plot some basic things out if things go poorly.91Ƶ
As of Tuesday morning 350 properties in the area have been evacuated, and last night the evacuation alert area was extended twice to include more homes on 5A and Princeton Summerland Road, as homes in Erris and Jura.
