Salmon Arm partners with School District 83 on snowplow naming contest

Contest asks students for catchy winter-themed name

The City of Salmon Arm has partnered with School District 83 in a Name a Snowplow contest, asking students to come up with a catchy, winter-themed name for a city snowplow.

There's some brainstorming in the forecast for School District 83 students who respond to the City of Salmon Arm's call for help to name a snowplow. 

The city and the (SD83) have partnered for a Name a Snowplow contest, inviting students to come up with and submit "clever, snow-worthy names for this essential winter vehicle," as well as original drawings of the snowplow in action. 

"In addition to suggesting a name, students can submit original drawings of the snow plow in action, with the winning name creatively displayed," reads a social media post shared by the school district. "It91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s a fantastic way for them to express their artistic talents and community spirit while engaging in a real-world project that will be visible around town all winter long."

Names should be "catchy" and "winter-themed," like 91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵœ'Frost Biter,' 'Snow Be Gone,' or 'Plowasaurus Rex'," reads the post. 

The contest runs Nov. 15 to Dec. 16. The selected winning names will be shared publicly, with the winners receiving "some cool City of Salmon Arm swag as a thank-you for their creativity and community spirit."

Entries can be dropped off at city hall (Box 40, 500 2 Avenue NE, Salmon Arm, BC V1E 4N2) between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday to Friday. Scanned entries can be emailed to info@salmonarm.ca. Entries can also be posted via social media with the hashtag #SalmonArmSnowStar.
