UPDATE: Man arrested after 91Ƶpotential91Ƶ bomb found in Kamloops

UPDATE: 11:34 a.m.

A man is in custody after a 91Ƶpotential91Ƶ bomb was found outside a Brocklehurst home early Tuesday morning, police say.

Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie said 91Ƶa potential incendiary device91Ƶ was found on Cambridge Crescent at about 2 a.m. Police evacuated nearby homes and an RCMP bomb unit was called to the scene.

Shelkie said the device was 91Ƶsecured91Ƶ by the bomb unit and an explosives dog searched a nearby townhouse. A 38-year-old Keremeos man was arrested in the home and is being held for court.

His name has not been made public.

UPDATE:

At least five marked RCMP vehicles and a dog team were on-scene just before 9 a.m., and could be seen entering a townhouse on Cambridge Crescent.

A short time later, the police dog unit entered the residence.

Cambridge Crescent on Kamloops91Ƶ North Shore was closed as of 3:30 a.m. Tuesday due to a police incident.

RCMP Staff Sgt. Robert Daly said Mounties were on scene dealing with an 91Ƶunfolding police situation91Ƶ that required closure of the road near McArthur Island.

91ƵThis is an active investigation and subject to change,91Ƶ Daly said. 91ƵPolice are asking the public to stay out of the area at this time.91Ƶ

Police would not specify the nature of the incident.
