Environment Canada says a significant fall storm could impact the South Okanagan on Tuesday, Nov. 19.

The federal forecaster issued a special weather statement for the region, calling for "very windy conditions" through the night and into Wednesday.

"A significant fall storm will impact the B.C. Interior today and Wednesday," says Environment Canada. "The low-pressure system approaching the coast will rapidly deepen late today and then curl northward on Wednesday, remaining offshore throughout the period."

The region is expected to see "easterly winds increase through this afternoon," with peak wind speeds expected for most areas tonight, it added.

"Strong winds are likely to continue on Wednesday but should ease later in the evening."

In preparation for the storm, Environment Canada issued the following warnings:

Also in the South Okanagan forecast on Tuesday is a chance for wet flurries.

Temperatures aren't expected to dip below 0 C until Wednesday night, Nov. 20, according to Environment Canada.
