Update:

The fire that broke out at the Penticton Naramata boundary has been contained.

The fire is holding at 100% containment and crews are mopping up. Naramata and Penticton crews were the first on site with air support and an initial tactical team from the Ministry of Forests. A tactical evacuation of Sutherland Road has ended and residents are cleared to go back to their homes.

The B.C. Wildfire Service has confirmed it is fighting a 0.2-hectare wildfire near Naramata.

While it is in the Naramata Volunteer Fire Department91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s jurisdiction, the Wildfire Service has three helicopters working the blaze, with ground crews on their way.

Jody Lucius with B.C. Wildfire couldn91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™t confirm the proximity to the community, though she said it is 91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵœrelatively close.91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ

Structures are nearby, but not currently considered to be under threat, meaning there has been no evacuation order at this time.

The fire is displaying rank one and rank two behaviours, meaning it91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s a smouldering ground fire with some visible, open flames.

It is not considered to be contained at all at this point.

We will continue to update as more information becomes available.
