A wildfire was reported on Saturday northeast of Golden near Yoho National Park.

The BC Wildfire Service map says the fire is located at Wildcat Creek and is estimated to be roughly eight hectares. The Southeast Fire Centre dispatched personnel to combat the blaze.

The fire is believed to be caused by human activity, but a full investigation into the cause won91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™t occur until the fire is extinguished.

BC Wildfire Services have dispatched 20 personnel who are working on containing the fire with heavy equipment. The Southeast Fire Centre said firefighters are working to establish machine guards and to ensure there is hose around the perimeter.

While the BC Wildfire Services Map still has the blaze marked as 91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ˜out of control91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™, the Southeast Fire Centre said they don91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™t expect it to be a risk to infrastructure.

The Southeast Fire Centre said the terrain in the region is among the toughest in the province, but that it was nothing its personnel haven91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™t dealt with before, and it is not expected to contribute to the growth of the fire.

Rain is forecasted in the area over the next few days, which the centre said should help its efforts.
