FORESTER: Kathleen Amelia
(nee Owen) 1924-2016
Passed on peacefully in Kelowna on November 11, 2016 at the age of 92. She was born in Accrington, England June 18, 1924 and moved to Canada at age 2. Kay grew up in Lumby and married William Forester. They moved to Vancouver during the war years and she volunteered at St. Paul91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s hospital. After the war they moved to Vernon where Kay spent most of her life. Kay is survived by her loving son
Bill who cared for her over the last several years, Granddaughter Tara Tykalovich, son in law Johnny, as well as brother Kenny and sister Keitha. Kay also was loved by numerous nieces and nephews including Charmaine, Patsy, Bob, Doug and Mark. She was predeceased by her husband William Forester and Daughter Dianne Tykalovich. Kay was a loving mom whose greatest pleasure in life was enjoying the company of her son and late daughter. Kay worked for many years at Canada Safeway as the head cashier and later spent over 20 years as school yard supervisor at West Vernon & Harwood Elementary Schools. Kay was a caring presence who was loved by the children she watched over. She also worked for a number of years caring for seniors and was well admired by those she cared for. Kay loved to travel, spending many vacations in Hawaii with her family. She loved to keep informed and always enjoyed a good conversation. Kay will be dearly missed but we know she is now enjoying the company of the rest of her family and friends who have already left this earth. Kay will be cremated and a family memorial will be arranged
at a later date to celebrate her life
