The Okanagan Athletics avoided a sweep at the hands of the Whalley Chiefs, taking the finale of a four-game B.C. Premier Baseball League series Sunday in Kelowna.

After dropping the first three games of the weekend set at Elks Stadium, the A91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s closed with a 9-3 victory over Whalley.

Jackson Borne tossed a complete game eight-hitter for his first win of the season. Dylan Faulkner paced the offense with three hits and two RBIs, while Marcus Strother and Carter Morris each drove in two runs.

In the series opener Saturday, the Chiefs rallied from a 4-1 deficit to edge the A91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s 5-4. Adam Sarafinchin had two hits and two RBI in the loss.

In Game 2, Whalley scored six times in the fifth en route to an 8-4 win. Faulkner and Strother had two hits apiece for Okanagan.

On Sunday morning, the Chiefs downed the A91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s 14-3.

The Athletics (6-16) return to action this weekend when they visit the Parksville Royals in a four-game set.

The next home action for the A91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s is June 10 and 11 against the Victoria Mariners.
