It wasn't the Teddy Bear Toss night the Kelowna Rockets were hoping for as they fell to the Wenatchee Wild 9-1 at Prospera Place.
The game was all Wenatchee as they scored three goals in the first period, four in the second, and two in the third. Shaun Rios collected a hat trick while Kenta Isogai had a five-point night.
The fun for Rockets fans occurred 61 seconds into the third period when defenceman Nate Corbet's point shot found the back of the net, getting Kelowna on the board and letting the fans toss their teddy bears onto the ice. Kanjyu Gojsic and Andrew Cristall, in his return to the line-up after Hockey Canada's World Junior camp, collected the helpers on the goal.
Jake Pilon and Rhett Stoesser combined to make 31 saves in the loss.
With the loss, the Rockets are now 13-12-2-1 on the season, eighth in the Western Conference.
Kelowna is next in action on Tuesday, Dec. 17 for their last game before the winter break as they welcome the Prince George Cougars (16-9-3-2) to Prospera Place. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m.
