Local athletes are gearing up for a new level of racing as they take to the snowy trails of Silver Star Mountain.
The FatShoe Duathlon debuts Jan. 11 at Vernon's ski hill for enthusiasts of all ages.
Dawna Jodoin, ultra runner, coach, and founder of Bush Babes and Bros Trail Running, has created the unique event as an exciting alternative for winter sport enthusiasts.
FatShoe invites fat bikers and snowshoers to explore the winter trails in a new way.
The duathlon is part of Jodoin's series of trail events in Vernon for 2025.

Following FatShoe, Bush Babes returns to Silver Star for Slay the Dragon June 21.
Brokenagan takes place at Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre July 26.
Freaky Creeky runs Kalamalka Provincial Park Sept. 20.
The Soup2Nutz Duathlon has been postponed to 2026.
