Hockey fans got some free hockey in Kelowna on Friday night (Dec. 6) as the Chiefs fell to the Osoyoos Coyotes 3-2 in a shootout.
It was the Austin Cooper show for Osoyoos as he opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the first period.
Late in the second frame, the Chiefs got on the board when Ben Henshall scored his seventh of the season to tie the game. Jake Kessler and Aiden Petherick assisted.
Kelowna took the lead in the third when Gairen Bona potted his second of the season at the 6:21 mark. Owen Ivanov and Aiden Morcom collected the helpers.
But with just under four minutes to go, the Coyotes tied the game when Cooper put home his second of the game, 10th of the season.
Overtime solved nothing so the game went to a shootout where the Chiefs shooters when 0/3 and Mason Rudolph scored the winner for Osoyoos.
Chiefs goaltender Jedd Stybel made 22 saves in the loss.
Kelowna (9-10-0-3) is back in action on Saturday night in Grand Forks.
