On Thursday afternoon (Nov. 21), the Rockets announced they have acquired goaltender Rhett Stoesser from the Red Deer Rebels in exchange for a 2025 fourth-round selection and a 2027 fourth-round selection in the WHL Prospects Draft.
"We're excited to bring Rhett to Kelowna," said Rockets President and General Manager Bruce Hamilton. "We like his size and his competition in the net."
In parts of three seasons, the 19-year-old played in 65 games for the Rebels, going 32-21-2-4 with a 2.77 goals against average and a .899 save percentage. His best stretch of play came in the 2022-23 season when he earned Central Division first-team all-star honours.
Stoesser is now the third goaltender on the Rockets roster, joining Jari Kykkanen and Jake Pilon.
The Rockets are back in action on Friday night as they welcome the Vancouver Giants to town. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m. at Prospera Place.
