Born in 2005, Stancl scored 11 goals and added five assists in 35 games for Vaxjo last season.
Stancl is also property of the St. Louis Blues, who took him in the fourth round (106th overall) in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft that took place on Thursday, June 29.
In the last year, Stancl has had experience playing for his country in international play as well. At the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, he collected four points (three goals, one assist) in five games. In the 2023 under-18 World Championships, he earned an assist in five games.
The import draft is a two-round draft and it gives all CHL teams a chance to draft players from overseas.
Kelowna has already passed on their second-round pick.
