The Everett Silvertips showed the Kelowna Rockets why they're the best team in the WHL as the Rockets fell 4-1 on Friday night (Dec. 6).
Dominik Rymon scored his 13th goal of the season, followed by Tyler MacKenzie's 21st in the second period as Everett led 2-0 after two. Exceptional status 15-year-old defenceman Landon Dupont assisted on both goals.
In the third period, Everett extended their lead when Jesse Heslop potted this 17th goal of the campaign.
Kelowna finally got on the board with just over five minutes to go in the game when Kanjyu Gojsic scored his sixth goal of the season, unassisted.
But MacKenzie added his second goal of the game into the empty net to seal the 4-1 win.
Rhett Stoesser made 32 saves in the loss but did make the Save of the Night in the WHL's eyes.
With the loss, the Rockets are now 11-11-2-1 on the season, ninth in the Western Conference. Everett is now 22-3-2-1, first place in the WHL by 10 points.
The Rockets are back in action on Saturday night in Victoria to take on the Royals, who are second in the West with a record of 15-8-3-2.
