The Kindness Always Win volleyball event raised a record $3,000 for the Emily Dahl Foundation.

Rivalry and scores may be at the forefront of sports, but it's kindness that wins in every game.

Kindness Always Wins is the heart of an annual volleyball match in support of the Emily Dahl Foundation in memory of the Vernon youth.

The event took to the Clarence Fulton School courts for it's third year Dec. 17, raising a record $3,000.

Kindness Always Wins is put on by the athletes of Vernon School District's Beyond Sport Academy.

Troy Lorenson is the head coach, founder/director of Beyond Sport Inc. and the Volleyball Academy. Lorenson was also Dahl's head coach in her final season as a captain for the Sky Volleyball Club in 2018.

"The entire academy got behind this event, as did all the parents, friends and coaches 91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ“ it was bound to be a success," said Lorenson. "As we remember Emily, we are reminded that teamwork and kindness are not just ideas; they are requirements for success on and off the courts.91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ

The Community Foundation North Okanagan (CFNO) manages the Emily Dahl Foundation Charitable Fund and is impressed with the winning team effort that goes into the event.

"The annual Kindness Always Wins fundraiser shows that we91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™re better together," said CFNO's Leanne Hammond. "By building continuous community connections at all levels, we create a better North Okanagan for us all."
