Multiple Okanagan girls high school basketball teams ready for provincials

The 75th BC School Sports Girls Basketball Provincial Championships takes place at the Langley Events Centre from Feb. 26 to March 1.

Hoopers from around the Okanagan are ready to descend to the Langley Events Centre for the 75th annual BC School Sports Girls Basketball Provincial Championships.

In the top tier, AAAA, the Kelowna Secondary School (KSS) Owls and the Okanagan Mission Huskies go into the tournament as the Okanagan's only representatives. The Owls go into the competition as the #10 seed and open the tournament against the #7 Charles Best Best Devils from Coquitlam. Meanwhile, the Huskies are the 11th seed and take on the Yale Lions (Abbotsford).

At the AAA, Sa-Hali Sabres from Kamloops and the go into the tournament as the #2 and #4 seeds respectively. Also in the bracket are two more Kamloops schools - the South Kamloops Titans and the Valleyview Vikes.

Valleyview opens the tourney against the #1 seed M.E.I. Eagles out of Abbotsford. Vernon tips off against the Alberni District Storm, while Sa-Hali takes on Saanichton's Stelly91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s Stingers and South Kamloops faces the Mark R. Isfeld Ice from Courtenay.

The Thompson-Okanagan only have one representative at the 2A level, the Westsyde Whundas from Kamloops. They take on the Surrey's Southridge Storm in the tournament's opening round.

And in the single-A tournament, schools from Kelowna and Salmon Arm will battle for the provincial title. Kelowna's Aberdeen Hall Gryphons clash with the Ucluelet Warriors in the opening round while Salmon Arm's King91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s Christian Thunder will go to war against the defending champion Unity Christian Flames from Chilliwack.

The tournament takes place from Feb. 26 to March 1.
