The Princeton Posse91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s deep playoff run came to an end Monday, April 1, as the home team lost game seven of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s conference final to the Revelstoke Grizzlies, 6-3.
The regular season champions hit the home ice strong in the first period, out-chancing their opponents.
However, it was Revelstoke that opened the scoring late in the first frame, with a goal from Ethan Coventry, assisted by Mikkel Hrechka and Luke Ashton.
Dayton Nelson, for Princeton, tied the score early in the second period with a puck that deflected off the Revelstoke net-minder91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s skate.
However, that was quickly answered by the Grizzlies91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™ Jaylen Forsyth.
Game star Matthew Langdon tied the match late in the period, on a break out, however Coventry struck again just two minutes later, assisted by Luke Aston, and the teams departed the ice with the score at 3-2.
Revelstoke created dominance in the third period, beginning with a goal from Alexander Bronswyk, assisted by Brady Schwab.
Jonathan Ward, off the sticks of Vinay Junek and Matthew Langdon, scored mid-frame, but it wasn91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™t enough to stem the tide.
Ashton took advantage on a power play opportunity and Daniel Wittenberg potted a late period empty-netter.
There were only four penalties called in the entire game, with three of them going to Revelstoke.
Princeton out-shot Revelstoke 31-27 and goalie Posse goalie Blake Sittler made 26 saves.
Revelstoke now moves on to challenge the Fernie Ghostriders for the Teck Cup.
